MATTERS is finalizing its new and improved rapid referral platform for opioid use disorder.

The new platform will make the referral process easier than ever, while still linking individuals to the treatment and resources needed in their recovery journey.

FOLLOW-UP SUPPORT SERVICES

MATTERS referrals come with several barrier-reducing services including follow-up support.

Our staff contacts patients within 72 hours of being referred and again at 30, 60, and 90 days to help navigate barriers to treatment and support continuity of care.

We’ve refreshed the look of our website’s resource library to make educational materials easier to access.

Harm Reduction Highlights

VENDING MACHINE PROGRAM EXPANSION

Our program has successfully deployed 18 machines in communities across New York State. In 2025, the program plans to expand to 40+ machines to further improve access to life-saving supplies.

We are actively onboarding new partners to host and manage these machines!

COMMUNITY TRAININGS

MATTERS facilitates free harm reduction training for organizations and community groups.

Topics include how to respond to an opioid overdose with naloxone, how to use drug test strips, and the history of the harm reduction movement.

HARM REDUCTION SUPPLIES DISTRIBUTION HIGHLIGHT

Our harm reduction vending machines have dispensed over 40,000 fentanyl test strips, xylazine test strips, and naloxone (Narcan) units to community members.
