In Spring 2022 the MATTERS Team announced it’s partnership with BestSelf Behavioral Health on the SAMHSA MAT-PDOA Grant to develop a Western New York Opioid Addiction Hotline to support patients seeking medication assisted treatment for substance use disorders.

The 24/7 hotline is now live and available to patients in all 8 Counties of WNY (Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans & Wyoming). Explore the resources below to learn more about this partnership.

Why Telemedicine?

This partnership to develop a virtual addiction hotline is important for improved access to treatment for opioid and substance use disorder.

Many individuals face financial and geographical barriers to treatment; offering virtual options for evaluation and linkage to treatment will help to address these common barriers.

There are many benefits to telemedicine: telemedicine protects individuals from unneeded exposure to infectious diseases, helps medical providers understand the living environment of a patient, and provides more comfort and convenience for patients seeking care.

What to Expect

Individuals in Western New York need only call the hotline number to set an appointment with a virtual provider. During this appointment, individuals will be evaluated for opioid use disorder, provided a prescription as applicable, and referred to a treatment organization of their choosing through the MATTERS Network rapid referral system.
