ORDER WALL BOXES

MATTERS is partnering with the Town of Clarence Parks Department to install several naloxone wall box units throughout their parks and buildings – a proactive step to improve access to this life-saving medication in public spaces. An overdose can happen anywhere, and having immediate access to naloxone (commonly referred to by the brand name Narcan) can make the difference between life and death.

MATTERS’ Harm Reduction Coordinator, Mia Dickinson, recently joined Dave Greber of WIVB on the Buffalo Brief to discuss this partnership. During the interview, Mia highlights that organizations across New York State can order up to 10 naloxone wall boxes, 100% free, no questions asked. Each wall box has instructions on how to use naloxone in the event of an overdose stickered to its side to encourage community members to take action.

By integrating naloxone access into everyday public spaces, MATTERS is helping reduce stigma while promoting safety and awareness. In a recent press release about this partnership, the Superintendent of the Clarence Parks Department stated, “The Town of Clarence Parks Department is committed to providing safe and welcoming spaces for our residents and visitors,” said Jason Holden, Superintendent of the Clarence Parks Department. “By installing eight naloxone stations throughout our parks and buildings – including concession areas, pavilions, and the clubhouse – we are ensuring that life-saving medication is accessible during large community events. We are grateful to Dr. Joshua Lynch and the MATTERS program for helping to bring these resources to our community.”

MATTERS encourages any organization, including municipalities, to integrate overdose prevention strategies into their work. Learn more and order free wall boxes here: https://mattersnetwork.org/organization-naloxone
