The MATTERS (Medication for Addiction Treatment and Electronic Referrals) Network has been rapidly expanding across New York State since 2020; in May 2021 the MATTERS Team traveled to New York City to introduce their Electronic Referral System to emergency departments and office-based opioid treatment (OBOT) locations. Since then, the MATTERS Network has announced a pilot launch of the platform for NYC Health + Hospitals (H+H) Lincoln, Bellevue, Harlem, and Coney Island Hospitals and five OBOT locations around the area.

The MATTERS team returned to NYC in April 2022 to re-engage with H+H physicians, social workers, and emergency department support staff to discuss platform utilization, the referral process, buprenorphine prescribing in the ED, and how to apply for an X-waiver. MATTERS’ Dr. Joshua Lynch, Caleigh Loughran, and Chantazia Bronson joined forces with the NYC H+H team – Dr. Dan Schatz, Kayna Pfeiffer, Jason Cartwright, and Samira Siddiqui – to visit with Lincoln, Bellevue, and Harlem Hospitals again. In addition to the H+H Systems, MATTERS Program Manager Caleigh Loughran visited Mount Sinai’s Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) Leadership team to present on platform updates and support staff on platform utilization

The MATTERS Network continues to onboard new partners in the New York City and New York State regions; since expansion, the team has also introduced the platform to other regional health systems like Montefiore and NY Presbyterian. MATTERS is excited to continue its New York City expansion efforts and invites you to join the network. Visit the MATTERS website at mattersnetwork.org/join-the-network to learn more.
